Mountain Lake Southwest VIRGINIA Topographical Map Drawing: PRINT Louisiana The map area includes Berkeley’sMOUNTAIN LAKE, near Newport, Giles County, Virginia. A rare natural lake in the Southern Appalachians, Mountain Lake rises and falls in a natural cycle, from 100 feet deep to totally dry. This lake is surrounded by some virgin forest and the beautiful patterns of the Appalachian ridges are evident in this map, revealed simply in hand drawn topographic lines.
