The Nesting Snag Ski Mountains the lumbering motion becoming familiarGreat blue herons nest in colonies called rookeries, typically in tall dead trees standing in or near water. The height and open sight lines of a snag make it ideal as predators are visible from a distance and the birds can come and go without obstruction.
